Although fall is creeping around the corner, we have another heatwave in effect. So, I’m sticking with summer cocktails and living out these last few weeks of sunshine. What’s in my glass; this peachy bourbon lemonade!
This cocktail is refreshing and celebrates summer peaches, exactly what I need to cure this summer heat. And once you have each component made, it’s an easy cocktail to make! You can even make a large batch of the peachy bourbon lemonade and store it for easy pouring over ice. If you do this, multiply the recipe by as many cocktails as you’d like to serve. This cocktail is perfect for summer BBQs, a morning brunch, or long days by the lake.
When making this cocktail, you’ll want to make sure you have a batch of simply tart lemonade. Next, you’ll make the peach puree. To make it, add sliced peaches, water, and sugar to a thick-walled pot. Over high heat, bring it to a boil and allow it to boil for five minutes, stirring often. Then, add the peaches and the liquid into a blender. Blend until smooth then strain through a fine sieve or strainer. Set the peach puree aside and allow it to completely cool before adding it to the cocktail. Store the peach puree in an airtight container for up to two weeks.
Once the peach puree has cooled, you can start making your drink! Start by filling your glass of crushed ice. Then, add the lemonade, peach puree, and shot of bourbon or scotch whiskey. Mix it all together, garnish with a slice of lemon if you’re feeling fancy, and enjoy! Remember, please drink responsibly. And for those who don’t drink alcohol, omit the booze for a refreshing peach lemonade.
